About Barbados

Located in the West Indies, Barbados is just about the most popular of the Caribbean Islands. Miles and miles of beautiful beaches all accessible to the public (no beaches are private). Year round sun makes this wonderful island a favourite with tourists.

BARBADOS INFO

Barbados is a coral island, pushed out of the sea by volcanic activity many years ago. On the West Coast of Barbados, beaches of fine white sand stretch along a blue-green sea. Coral reefs fringe the shoreline to provide excellant snorkeling and Scuba Diving. Along the East coast a lively surf is blown briskly by the trade winds and the waves pound against a rocky shore. The constant breeze of the trade winds give Barbados a mild and pleasant tropical climate.

BARBADOS EXPECTATION

Barbados is a diverse island, with lots of art, activities, night life, music, history and some of the best restaurants to be found anywhere. But what makes Barbados even more special, and the reason why so many visitors keep returning to the island year after year, is the people. Barbadians called Bajans, are warm, friendly souls, always ready to greet you with a sincere smile.

BRIDGETOWN The capital of Barbados is located to the south west of the island and offers some excellent cafes and restaurants as well as numerous Duty Free stores and outlets.

OISTINS The famous Oistins Fish Market has a 'Fish Fry' every Friday, where countless local food stalls serve wonderful fresh fish, all cooked in front of you and eaten on the beach. Reggae music plays so you can dance the evening away after you've enjoyed your food.

ST LAWRENCE GAP Located at the south end of the island, St Lawrence offers an abundance of restaurants and bars most of which are open late.

EAST COAST The East Coast faces the Atlantic Ocean and the sea is normally fairly rough. Many 'Surfers' gravitate to this area as the swells offer excellent conditions. There a fewer Hotels and Restaurants on this side of the island, but the scenary makes it a day out not to be missed.
